GOOD FENCES - Journeying Back to Blantyre (Part 1)

Today we leave the lodge and head back to Blantyre and this shot was taken when I had finished my walking tour with the guide and came through a back way an found this woman and child doing the laundry.

This Stick Insect seem to want to make the journey with us much to the delight of Daniel and Annika

Now this was a common scene to see and although the law state that you should put a triangle out to warn people of the danger, that never happened. Instead, they put 3 separate lots of branches on the road 50 yards apart to warn drivers and that actually worked well, I thought.

Now what do you think of their scaffolding?

These were the entrance gates to the Parliament building in Lilongwe, Malawi.

We stopped at this restaurant called the Four Seasons in Lilogwe to have something to eat and the grounds had a beautiful and peaceful setting.

At least, this  week you could see some outside fences so I hope you enjoyed this post.  I will show you more  photographs from this place.

I am linking this post with GOOD FENCES.

Many thanks for visiting and also to all those who leave comments.

  1. Love the African scene of the woman doing the laundry. Son helping and baby patiently sitting on the ground... Yes, we learned that too: when there is a vehicle breakdown on the main road, there are branches just a way before and behind the truck/car. I always marveled at the scaffolding. And shake my head at the ornate gates and entrances to government places... LOVE the peaceful and lush setting of the hotel. Today I pray you're safely through the customs in Malawi and soon reunited with your precious family. Blessings Jo

  2. Loved the grounds at Four Seasons.
Those trucks are reminiscent of those we saw in India. We were told a working horn was MUCH more important than brakes...

  3. You have really captured the feel of Malawi for me in these photos Margaret. But my favourite has to be the picture of Annika on the tractor! A girl after my own heart!

  6. Nice series! I would be like to live in such a warm land, were can make the laundry under an open sky...
The scaffoldings are not DIN-like (unthinkable in Germany!), but they will be functioning. Nice garden in the last few photos.

  9. What a wonderful series. So many sites to see and so little time. The scaffolding on the building could actually be called a fence the way it looks right now. You must be having a wonderful time on this trip.
