GOOD FENCES - Newtown Nature Reserve

My friend Eileen and I visited Newtown Nature Reserve on the Isle of Wight which the National Trust manage.  These are some of the images and a video at the end of this post that I took that day and will be showing you more tomorrow.

This walkway leads out to the boathouse.

Above is the view to the left of the boathouse
and below is the view to the right of the boathouse.

This is the hide and although it is locked in the wintertime, Eileen is a volunteer with National Trust and has a key so we could go in.

This is the view from the hide.
In the foreground there is a Greenshank and Redshank and behind is a great a variety of geese and ducks

Little Egret

This is the view from the left of the hide.

We walked over a field to arrive at this part of the Reserve.  The green field you see in the distance is where I saw the Golden Plover (below).   Make sure, when you watch the video at the end of the post, that you look out for the bird of prey among them when they take to the air.

Golden Plover

Pintail and Wigeon Ducks.
You will also see them better in the video.

Dark bellied Brent and Wigeon

 House Sparrow

Teal

A cat we spotted on our way down to this area of the Reserve.

  26. Pretty kitty but I hope he isn't feasting on those wild birds. We walked a nice boardwalk trail today ... I love places like that. I wonder why the hide is locked in wintertime?
